2018: A Wedding Videographer’s Highlights

by | Dec 27, 2018

At the end of each year, I always love looking back on all the wonderful moments from the weddings I’ve filmed at. And 2018 has once again been a brilliant year for Story Of Your Day with fantastic memories.

I’ve enjoyed filming weddings and celebrations across the UK, Europe and Asia, and I’ve also had a few other cinematography adventures too.

Corporate work …

For the first few months of 2018, I spent a lot of time filming with my corporate production house, The Story Creatives, whether it was hanging out of helicopters or paragliding over Swiss lakes. You can find out more about some of the exciting projects I’ve been filming here – but here’s a spot of action from a project with the Männlichen Bahn in Grindelwald project I am now working on.

Sharing my videography passion with others…

This year has been a great year for me in terms of teaching and training videographers.  I appeared on stage at The Photography Show in Birmingham, representing Canon on the Education Stage. And, I’ve been invited back again by Canon and also to speak on behalf of the organisers of the show themselves in 2019, which sees the launch of The Video Show for the first time.

Later, in November, it was time for my second annual Evolve Retreats – a highly-curated wedding videography training workshop for female film creatives – here in Switzerland.

Wonderful weddings …

As well as all that, I’ve been travelling across Switzerland so that Story Of Your Day can partner up with lots of great planners and wedding suppliers, as well as the STC Swiss Travel Centre and Switzerland Tourism.

But, in between all that, I handpicked some wonderful couples to share the magic of their wedding with.

Here’s a quick round-up of our 2018 weddings…

My first wedding of the year came in May this year, and I headed to Vienna for a last minute elopement wedding with Yining and Gangqiang.

The couple travelled from their home in China to the Austrian capital and, working alongside photography duo Belle & Sass, we helped them plan their spontaneous day. The gorgeous Hofburg Palace simply rose to the occasion.

Next, I travelled to Majorca for a gorgeous wedding at the magnificent venue, La Fortaleza. Yes, it really is that place where The Night Manager was set!

If you’d like to see the couple’s full trailer, just get in touch.

I didn’t get back to UK much this year but, when I did, I filmed some stunning weddings and one of my favourites was working with photographer, Rich Page, in Bury St Edmunds at Hengrave Hall with Lizzie and Nick.

Another UK wedding which was just fantastic fun to film and be a part of was that of Jody and Roxy. The stunning couple tied the knot in a magical marquee wedding near York. Watch their film here….

Then, I headed to France for Jane and Chuck’s wedding – they flew over from the States to a small village in the Drôme Valley in the south east of France for their beautiful and romantic destination wedding.

Jane and Chuck are now back in Los Angeles and have asked me to film their after-wedding party there in 2019, which I am very excited about.

Having been centrally located in Switzerland for more than two years, I’ve been enjoying filming many destination weddings in Switzerland, as well as for clients who live here, such as Mathilde and Helio, whose wedding was in August in Payerne.  This couple’s First Look was so fun to film and can be found on my Instagram account.

One of my favourite weddings of 2018 was that of Brittany and Ryan. I just loved that they followed in the footsteps of the bride’s grandparents and I was able to tell their story. Just like Tootsie and Pops, who tied the knot in July 1946 – shortly after World War II, the couple married in the Reformed Church of Davos Frauenkirch (Reformierte Kirche Davos Frauenkirch).

It was a busy summer travelling all over Europe and beyond with too many weddings to highlight. But towards the end the year, I headed to South France once more, this time to Ginestas, for a special New York couple’s chateau wedding.

Katie and Harold brought all their closest family and friends to share the moment with them.  I have to say this was one of the easiest couples to film… they loved the camera!

Story Of Your Day’s commissions for 2019 are looking amazing. I’m really looking forward to all the amazing weddings  and fabulous destinations on the filming schedule so far… I can’t wait!

If you’re thinking of getting married in 2019/2020 then now is the time to get in touch, before it’s too late to reserve your date.
