With stunning alpine mountains, magnificent castles and stylish imperial palaces dotting its landscape, Austria is a wedding videographer’s dream destination.
I’ve had the pleasure of filming in Austria a number of times over the past year or so – it’s an easy journey from my home in its neighbouring country Switzerland, after all.
All such different weddings and couples with different desires and ideas for their perfect day, but all simply amazing
I am delighted to share four of my favourite recent Austrian wedding films with you .
The Austrian Old-Style Palace Wedding Film
Looking back to my first wedding in Austria is always a delight. Ewa and Peter are such a fun and gorgeous couple who returned to Vienna from Los Angeles to celebrate their wedding with friends and family from all over the world.
It was while filming their day that I realised that I really enjoyed being a destination wedding videographer.
Palais Schönburg is best described as a magnificent baroque old style palace located in the centre of Vienna. With wonderful architecture, a beautiful garden and a huge ball room, it was a delightful venue to film at.
Ewa’s favourite poem – Steps (Stufen) – is written by the German poet Hermann Hesse, and she reads it so beautifully. I love the lines:
‚A magic dwells in each beginning,
protecting us, telling us how to live.‘
The laid-back Austrian Wedding Film
Isabelle (Isa) and Natascha chose to host their special occasion at the estate of Isa’s Mom in the South West of Austria – its beauty, charm and chaos provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding.
This wedding delivered a delightful mix of several traditions integrated into their self-made ceremony.
Isa and Natascha did not have a set dinner, but food on the table for everyone to grab as they wished with the speeches dispersed throughout.
The couple then began the Hava Nagila to open the dance floor up to those who were ready to kick off their shoes and dance.
The Austrian Snow Wedding Film
Zell am See in the Austrian state of Salzburg is a picturesque lakeside town surrounded by rising mountains with crisp white snow and glaciers.
The perfect setting for the wedding of adventurous couple Gerry-Rae and Nick and for me to make a fun, yet romantic snowy wedding film.
They travelled to Austria to share their passion for skiing and snowboarding with their family and friends.
It was such a wonderful experience filming their happy occasion amid snowy scenes and blue skies. It’s times like these when I am in my element as a winter wedding videographer.
You can read more about their wedding film in this blog I wrote – Skiing and Snowing: a Zell am See wedding film.
The Austrian elopement film
Yining and Gangqiang travelled from China to Vienna in Austria for their elegant elopement wedding. Their venue – the Hofburg Palace – is magnificent.
The Palace was built and expanded between the 13th and 20th centuries – it was the principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty rulers – and is now the official residence of the President of Austria.
Weddings are held in the sumptuous Radetzky Apartment II with the wedding party invited to enter via the Ambassadors’ Staircase.
This romantic couple fully embraced their elopement wedding in Austria, travelling through Vienna in a horse-drawn carriage.
