Five inspiring Switzerland wedding films

by | Jul 5, 2019

Switzerland is one of the most versatile places for a glorious destination wedding. One day I might be filming an action wedding while snowboarding down the Alps. Another day, I could be mingling discreetly among guests as they sip Aperol spritz at an intimate lakeside wedding.

I wanted to share with you a collection of five of my favourite Swiss weddings. All very different in style and venue but all so magical and breathtaking. Each shot in my signature story-driven way.

A Swiss Lake wedding film

Montreux is a Swiss town on the shoreline of Lake Geneva at the foot of the stunning Alps, known for its world-famous two-week-long Jazz Festival.

And the stunning setting for Shahad and Abdullah’s wedding.

The couple travelled all the way from Saudi Arabia to Switzerland for their wedding at Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, a prestigious hotel on the shores of the Lake.

While filming their wedding, we couldn’t resist a pre-wedding shoot – taking a glorious boat ride on the stunning blue waters of Lake Geneva, looking up at the surrounding lush green hills.

A Swiss Snowy Mountain proposal film

I’ve captured a few romantic Swiss mountain proposals on film, but this one was special because the bride-to-be had never seen snow before.

Zoyi and Keith travelled from Hong Kong to Switzerland and enjoyed a visit to Kleine Scheidegg –  a mountain pass below and between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks.

The pair travelled on the Jungfrau Railway system towards JungfrauJoch (the highest railway station in Europe) – known as ‘Top Of Europe’. It was here that Keith proposed to Zoyi.

While the thick snow and clouds blocked the amazing views of the North Face of The Eiger, Zoyi didn’t care – she was just so excited to be able to touch snow.

A Swiss Church wedding film

Picturesque churches set on idyllic hills are a Swiss specialty.  And a popular choice for destination weddings in both Summer and Winter.

The Reformed Church of Davos Frauenkirch (Reformierte Kirche Davos), a little white church built in the mid-14th century, housed the wedding of US couple Brittany and Ryan.

But this was more than just a pretty Swiss church to the couple.

Brittany and Ryan chose to travel to Davos to marry in the same church that the bride’s grandparents Tootsie and Pop married in after WWII.

Their story is just so romantic and a joy to film.

A Swiss Elopement wedding film

Jess and Cory came all the way over from Australia to Switzerland to get married beside Lake Blausee, a stunning mountain lake set against a landscape formed by a rock slide.

The couple celebrated their vows and their day with just a small group of their closest friends. And what made it more special for me was that their ceremony was followed by an intimate grilkota at the Sunstar Hotel in Wengen – the ski resort where I live.

A Swiss First Look Wedding Film

Mathilde and Hélio enjoyed a ‘first look’ moment before their wedding ceremony, which was held in the small Swiss town of Payerne near the nature reserve of the Grande Cariçaie.

In the romantic woodland setting, Hélio turned to see Mathilde as she approached and was overwhelmed at how beautiful she looked.

While Mathilde was simply ‘floating’.

To end this blog, I’ve chosen five of my favourite Swiss Wedding Photos – all stills from weddings filmed in Switzerland.

Often couples will ask me to provide a high-quality screengrab of special moments from their wedding film footage.
