Hengrave Hall: A Suffolk Wedding Film

by | Dec 11, 2018

It’s always a delight when you get to work with wedding suppliers that you know and love again. And it was a case of the ‘dream team reunited’ for Lizzie and Nick’s wedding in June as I teamed up once again with photographer Rich Page.

Lizzie and Nick’s wedding – the latest in our real wedding series – took place at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk. Close to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, the venue is a gorgeous  Tudor mansion with white timber panelling, crystal chandeliers and amazing gardens.

Rich and I were in our element as the sun came out during the afternoon giving us the ideal opportunity to take Nick and Lizzie out to capture ‘golden hour’ in the stunning grounds.

Golden hour in photography and videography terms is one hour before sunset and is always one of the most beautiful times of the day for creating memorable wedding shots.

And, the couple looked so stunning as the sun set behind them and the lavender cloaking the couple in a delightful  purple haze.

I subtly grade my films, scene by scene. It’s important for me that the film looks how it did on the day. The clouds are white, the lavender is lavender coloured and all my skin tones are accurate.

I do not use gimbals, nor do I work hand-held or pan or tilt shots. Instead I frame my shots carefully and wait for the action to happen within the frame.

Of course, the moment a groom first sees his bride is one of great anticipation. And, it’s always so lovely when the groom is emotional.

When Lizzie entered the church and walked down the aisle, Nick struggled to keep his composure… and so did I! A moment that a film can bring back to life again and again.

I absolutely loved working on this wedding, not least because the venue is also close to my Dad’s house so I got to stay with him while I was back in the UK filming it.
